Everything you need to know about joining Courier Expert as a self-employed courier.
Please allow up to 48 hours for your account to be reviewed and activated. Once approved, you will have full access to our app and job board straight away.
No. We have plenty of same-day courier work for cars, and many of our couriers operate with just a car. However, a van will increase your earning potential, especially for return journeys and pallet work. Our advice is to start with the vehicle you already have, make some money from a few deliveries, and then consider upgrading to a van once you have seen the potential for yourself.
There is plenty of work for cars. However, if you want to maximise your opportunities — especially for return jobs — we recommend a Midi Van, such as a Peugeot Expert or Citroen Dispatch. These run economically enough for car and small van jobs, yet also carry 2 pallets, so you can compete successfully for Transit Van work too.
Yes, it really is. You need to be able to drive and have a suitable vehicle. Beyond that, our platform, guide, and support team will walk you through everything else — from getting set up to winning your first job.
We offer two membership tiers:
Both memberships include full access to the job board, the Courier Expert app, our courier guide, and support from the team. Visit our Join page for current pricing.
Yes. There are no additional fees. Providing you keep your account active by applying for a job at least once every 90 days, you will always have access to our platform. Should your lifetime account be deactivated due to inactivity, a small reactivation fee of £25 + VAT applies.
We do not offer free trials. In order to access our platform you must go through the registration and review process. However, the monthly membership option gives you a low-cost way to try courier work without a large upfront commitment.
Similar, but with a key difference — we also post our own work directly into the network. As a national courier company, Courier Expert generates its own delivery jobs alongside work from third-party sources, giving you more opportunities.
Yes. As a national courier company, Courier Expert has courier work of its own. When you join, you get access to our online job board and instant alerts via the app. You can bid on jobs at prices you are happy with — you see the price upfront, so there is no race to the bottom. We also offer trade work where you bid and receive 100% of the price you quote.
You get paid a percentage of the price the customer pays, so it depends on how far you drive and how many return loads you can secure — this is where our platform helps increase your profits by showing you nearby backloads.
We are not going to make claims about making millions with minimal effort. Courier work is real work — but it is pleasant, flexible work with genuinely good earning potential. Whether you want to stay small or grow your own fleet is entirely up to you.
Do not give up your job yet. Join us first and try it out — our monthly membership is designed for exactly this. See how many jobs come through that you could do, read our courier guide, and then make an informed decision before leaving any current employment.
Remember — most self-employed couriers get work from 2 or 3 different sources. We can help you with this, and it is all explained in the courier guide included with your membership.
Once you have completed your delivery, park up, grab a coffee, and keep an eye on our instant work alerts or search the board for relevant jobs heading back in your direction. Our app makes it easy to find backloads near your current location, helping you earn on the way home rather than driving back empty.
Our payment terms are 30 days from receipt of your invoice, paid on the closest Friday. Simply submit a scanned copy of your invoice and signed proof of delivery note and we will pay you by bank transfer. You can also do this directly via the Courier Expert app for even faster processing.
Level 1 — You can cover jobs where the value of the goods is up to £1,000, under our own transit cover. Both Monthly and Lifetime members are covered at this level regardless of whether you have your own Goods in Transit insurance policy. This means you can start taking on jobs straight away.
Level 2 — Gives you access to all deliveries including exclusive access to higher-value cargo, which is not available to Level 1 couriers. You must have your own Goods in Transit insurance with cover up to £10,000 plus appropriate Hire & Reward vehicle insurance.
As a self-employed courier, it is your own responsibility to ensure your vehicle is appropriately insured for courier use.
We do not publish statistics of drivers per postcode. We currently have hundreds of active couriers nationally, spread across the UK. However, many of our couriers are not always available at the exact time a job is booked — which is exactly why we are always looking for more reliable couriers to join the network and help us deliver the service we promise to our customers.
Demand for same-day courier services continues to grow. A significant portion of our work is currently subcontracted out to independent couriers because we do not have enough of our own network members to cover every job. More couriers in our network means faster collection times, better coverage, and more work opportunities for everyone.
Not at all. The same-day courier industry is actually limited because there are not enough good, reliable couriers to meet demand. This is why it is not just a good business to get into — it is a great one. We need more couriers for our own national courier company, and we will pay you to do our work.
Technically, you do not. You could start as a self-employed courier on your own — find all the information yourself, market yourself with no help, find your own work, make your own materials, and learn everything by trial and error.
Or you can join our platform and skip most of that. Membership gives you immediate access to a steady flow of courier jobs, our app, a comprehensive courier guide, and ongoing support from a team that has been in the industry for over a decade.
Of course. Our official company name is CRV Solutions Ltd T/A COURIER EXPERT.
We’re up-front about everything, and we are a real business interested in helping grow the courier industry by assisting others to become self-employed couriers.
Andy Stephens is the owner of Courier Expert. He started the company from the ground up as a working courier and built it into the national same-day courier service it is today.
Andy shares his knowledge and experience here at Courier Expert because he genuinely believes in helping others succeed in the courier industry — the same industry that gave him his start. If you are serious about owning your own business, we can help you become a courier in no time at all.
